The Delhi Directorate of Education’s Nursery Primary Branch will organise a State-level Art Exhibition cum Competition for students for the session 2023-24, tentatively in the first week of November.

A circular issued by the DoE on Wednesday stated, “It is seen that the students perform better if their creations are noticed. Appreciation is indeed a powerful motivator for the students. When students receive praise and recognition for their efforts and achievements, it boosts their self-system.”

The circular added that the benefits of exhibiting students’ paintings include boosting their confidence, self-expression, giving them a sense of accomplishment and improving verbal communication skills. “Art can provide a window into different cultures and traditions, fostering an appreciation for diversity and cultural understanding,” it said.

Issuing guidelines to each school for the above, the DoE said, “The schools will provide complete guidance and ample opportunity for practice to all the students of primary classes for better participation in the school level painting/drawing competition. Students may be encouraged to continue their practice during the autumn break at home as well.”

All schools will organise a school level painting/drawing competition by October 30, and select two best entries. These will then be submitted with a covering letter and certificate to the Nursery Primary Branch on October 31.

A certificate regarding completion of the competition and selection thereafter, will be taken from the primary in-charge of the school on the letterhead and the same will be forwarded by the HoS to Nursery Primary Branch during submission, as per guidelines issued by the DoE.
