Foreign travelers arriving at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will no longer need to fill out paper-based arrival forms. The airport is set to introduce a new e-Arrival Card facility starting Wednesday. The initiative, launched under the aegis of the Bureau of Immigration by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which operates IGIA, aims to simplify the entry process for international passengers.
According to officials, the digital system will allow travellers to submit arrival details online — cutting down waiting time at counters, reducing queues, and supporting the airport’s push for greener operations through reduced paper consumption.
“We are delighted to join hands with the Bureau of Immigration to launch the e-Arrival Card facility for international passengers. By digitising the arrival card process, we are enabling faster clearances, shorter waiting times, and greater convenience to enhance the overall passenger experience. This initiative reflects the Government of India’s commitment to delivering a world-class, hassle-free travel experience while promoting sustainable practices,” said DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar.
Officials said the move aligns with the government’s “Digital India vision” and follows a global trend of airports offering paperless entry systems. Similar facilities are already in place at airports in Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Foreign passengers will be able to access and submit their details up to three days before travel through official portals, including the Bureau of Immigration website (boi.gov.in), the Indian visa website (indianvisaonline.gov.in), the “Su-Swagatam” mobile app, or the Delhi airport website (newdelhiairport.in).
Last June, the airport also launched India’s first “Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveler Programme” (FTI-TTP) for Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders, offering faster and more secure immigration clearance. DIAL said the two initiatives — FTI-TTP and the e-Arrival Card — are designed to improve efficiency and enhance the passenger experience.
