With the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2025 results announced Friday, the University of Delhi has issued a formal advisory urging undergraduate aspirants to gear up for the next and most critical stage of the admission process: choosing their programmes and colleges.

According to an official notice issued by the University’s Admission Branch on Thursday, “the CUET-UG 2025 results are likely to be announced on July 4, 2025”. In the same communication, the varsity confirmed that it will open Phase II of its Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) early next week — the stage where applicants will submit their programme and college preferences.

Importantly, the advisory cautions students that this window could be brief.

“The university is likely to start its academic session from August 1, hence the duration of CSAS Phase II could be limited to a week. This advisory is being issued for candidates to take an informed decision and avoid any mistakes while filling their choices in the CSAS Phase II, as soon as it is launched,” it said.

With thousands of applicants vying for a limited number of seats — 71,624 — how students rank their college and programme choices could determine their admission outcome. Students must list programmes (courses) in order of interest and colleges.

Before students can move to Phase II, students must ensure they have completed Phase I, which includes registration on the CSAS portal, uploading relevant documents (Class 10 and 12 marksheets, CUET scorecard, caste/EWS certificate, etc.), and paying the one-time registration fee.

Once the CUET scores are auto-integrated into the system, the portal will unlock the preference-filling section. Students will be allowed to choose their programme and preferred colleges from a list on the CSAS portal and rank each option according to personal priority before the Phase II window closes.

Here are the steps that students applying must follow:

DU CSAS Phase 2: Programme and College Preferences

1. Subject Mapping: As the results for the CUET UG will be out, students will have the opportunity to map their UG test papers to Class 12 subjects and submit marks.

2. Programme-specific eligibility: Check eligibility for DU programmes based on CUET scores and subject mapping.

3. Preference Selection: Select and prioritise programme-college combinations using filters and navigation tools designed by the DU CSAS portal.

4. Final Submission: Save and lock preferences before the deadline. The options will be auto-locked if no action is taken by students within the deadline. The order of preferences matters for seat allocation.
After submission, no changes will be allowed after the deadline.

Once these two phases are completed, candidates will be allotted seats under Phase 3 of the CSAS portal. Seat offers will be made in multiple rounds, giving students the option to accept, reject, or upgrade their allocation based on seat availability.

Several changes have been made to the admission process this year, including a new tie-breaking formula and the introduction of a “direct auto-accept” option for seat allocation.

The “direct auto-accept” mode will allow students to confirm upgraded seats immediately without delay. “After the update in the admission portal, now direct auto-accept mode has been implemented so that no applicant misses the allotment,” Vice-Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh had said earlier.

DU has revised its tie-breaking rules — it will now take into account marks scored by students in Class X as one of the options.

Explaining why the varsity has considered the new rule this year and how it would be implemented, DU, Dean of Admissions, Haneet Gandhi, had told The Indian Express earlier, “Until last year, we were working with raw data and, in some cases, we had to allocate seats based on the alphabetical order of names.”

“This year, we wanted a more rational and merit-based approach. So we decided to use Class X marks. We will take the average of all subjects taken by a student in Class X and use that to break the tie,” she had said.
