Central district police, who arrested him later, were unaware that he had been arrested by the Crime Branch last week.

The interrogation of convicted TADA accused Avtar Singh, also the brother of Paramjeet Singh (accused in former Punjab CM Beant Singh’s assassination), by Delhi Police has revealed that Singh had been arrested by the Crime Branch last week, but was let off after he allegedly paid money to three policemen. An inspector, a sub-inspector and a constable who allegedly let him off without informing the senior officers have been sent to the district lines.

Central district police, who arrested him later, were unaware that he had been arrested by the Crime Branch last week. Singh reportedly told his interrogators that he paid Rs 5 lakh to one policeman for his release, a police officer said.
