New police posts, staff quarters, women’s hostel: Centre okays Rs 600-crore worth projects for Delhi Police

These infrastructure projects aim to provide modern, well-equipped, and gender-sensitive facilities to improve the working and living conditions of police personnel, the Delhi Police said.

New police stations, police posts, staff quarters, and a women’s hostel are among a slew of projects announced by the Central Government for bolstering the infrastructure of the Delhi Police, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The Delhi Police stated that Rs 600 crore has been sanctioned for 26 new projects aimed at easing policing in the national capital.

“In a significant step towards strengthening the policing infrastructure in the National Capital, the Ministry of Home Affairs has accorded administrative approval and expenditure sanction amounting to ₹ 653.46 crore for the execution of 26 new infrastructure projects of Delhi Police,” the statement read.

The women’s hostel will cater to newly inducted female personnel who require accommodation, while the new police posts will be established in areas with an understaffed police presence. All the projects are being undertaken by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).

“The approved projects include the construction of 18 police station buildings, 7 police posts, 1 women’s hostel, and 180 staff quarters. These projects aim to provide modern, well-equipped, and gender-sensitive facilities to improve the working and living conditions of police personnel, thereby contributing to a safer and more secure environment in Delhi,” the Delhi police statement read.
