Days after 33-year-old gangster Sunil Balyan alias Tillu Tajpuriya was killed allegedly by four rival gangsters inside Tihar jail, CCTV footage has emerged showing the murder wherein he is seen being stabbed over 90 times. Investigators said the probe of the murder has been transferred to the Special Cell.
The four accused — Yogesh Tunda, Deepak Titar, Rajesh and Riyaz Khan—are all associates of the Gogi gang. Police said the accused revealed that they avenged the death of their gang leader Jitender Mann alias Gogi. Gogi was shot dead by two armed assailants inside Rohini court during a hearing in 2021. Police had said Tillu was the main conspirator in the crime and planned it from inside jail. His gang members were gunned down by police after they killed Gogi.
The CCTV footage from central jail no 8 in Tihar shows the four accused used bed sheets as ropes to climb down from the first floor to the ground floor where Tillu was lodged. In the video, four men jump with the help of a bed sheet and Tillu (in red t-shirt) runs towards a cell to hide. As he tries to shut the gate of the cell, three of the accused are seen overpowering him.
They stab and hit him through the gate. Within seconds, the accused manage to pull him out and stab him over 90 times. Other inmates, including gangster Manjeet Mahal (in white shirt), try to intervene, but the accused threaten them with their improvised weapons. Another inmate is seen injured. The accused are seen stabbing Tillu multiple times. The video shows blood spattered on the ground. Police said they have taken cognizance of the video and will question jail guards.
A case was lodged in West Delhi’s Hari Nagar police station. Police said they moved court for custody of the accused for interrogation. The case has now been transferred to the Special Cell.
Tillu led his gang for over a decade and was involved in over 14 cases including MCOCA. He was arrested in 2016 after his alleged involvement in several murder cases.
