Delhi businessman’s family held hostage, robbed of 25 lakh at Model Town home

Two masked men allegedly broke into a businessman’s house in Model Town, held his family hostage for hours, and robbed cash and jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh, said the police.

On Saturday, the accused allegedly entered the family’s house through the window in the hall and threatened the family members.

The police said the incident took place around 1-2 am. The family later called the police and complained about the robbery.

The complainant, Rahul, is a businessman and lives with his parents, wife and their three-year-old daughter.

“The accused entered through the windows of the hall. They first saw the domestic worker and she screamed for help. Rahul’s daughter was sleeping in the room. The men threatened the girl and then went to Rahul’s room. They held the family hostage and asked for money and jewellery,” said a senior police officer.

The accused were allegedly armed with knives and other weapons.

“The complainant alleged that the accused took Rs 2.4 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh. A case has been registered and the matter is being investigated,” added the officer.

CCTV footage of nearby localities is being scanned, said police.

Sources said the men were seen removing masks and taking a bike from outside the victim’s house.
