The Special Task Force (STF) of the Haryana Police’s Gurgaon unit Sunday arrested Ankit alias Gogi, a close associate and brother of the already detained chief shooter of the Deepak Nandal gang from Rohtak.

The arrest follows a series of high-profile shootings in the city linked to the gang, which is allegedly being remotely operated by Nandal from abroad.

Acting on specific intelligence, the STF team apprehended Gogi from Jalebi Chowk in Rohtak — the fourth key arrest in the ongoing police crackdown.

Deepak Nandal, once a prominent Haryanvi music producer, fled India earlier this year, and his gang has been implicated in multiple extortion rackets, attempted murders, and brazen firings targeting business establishments.

Key incidents attributed to the gang include an attempt on the life of singer Fazilpuria in Gurgaon in July, the murder of property dealer Rohit Shaukeen in August, and two separate firing episodes at corporate offices.

Acting swiftly on these cases, the STF earlier nabbed three core members — Nitin alias Baba, Mohit alias Chintu, and Arun Soni, who was arrested last Friday.

During interrogation, the police said that Soni admitted to recruiting his younger brother, Ankit, into the gang for logistical support.

Ankit, a resident of Kamla Nagar in Rohtak’s Shivaji Colony, admitted to ferrying weapons, hiding arms, arranging vehicles for gang members, and laundering extortion money through his bank accounts before distributing cash to associates at the behest of his brother.

“He told me to handle small tasks like moving weapons from one place to another, concealing them, and managing vehicles. He also asked me to route money received from extortion into my and my associates’ accounts, withdraw it in cash, and hand it over,” Ankit told investigators, per an STF statement.

Lured by the promise of a share, he joined and actively facilitated the gang’s operations, including receiving funds directly on Nandal’s instructions, said the police.
