Blast in AC sparks fire in Noida apartment, none hurt

A fire broke out in a flat at a housing society in Noida early on Thursday, following a blast in the indoor unit of the air conditioner, fire officials said.

However, none was injured in the blast that occurred on the 10th floor of Lotus Boulevard Society in Sector 100, said Prradeep Kumar, Chief Fire Officer of Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Kumar said that before his unit could reach the spot, the flames were doused by the maintenance team and residents with the help of the fire fighting system in the apartment.

In an official statement, he said, “at 10.11 am the fire service unit was alerted by the patrolling unit and also from the local residents, presidents of the area about the incident of fire.”

Gautam Buddh Nagar fire station had sent five fire fighting vehicles and police teams to the spot.

The CFO said that following the blast the table kept in the room soon caught fire that soon spread to the entire room.

The entire house did not catch fire as the fire fighting system worked well, Prradeep Kumar mentioned.

He also said that under the Noida Commissioner, the Fire and Rescue Services had launched a mission under which they have updated the fire fighting systems in 370 societies in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

He also said in this case a major tragedy was averted due to the effectiveness of the mission that gives alerts about fire outbreaks.

He also said that in the last 10 to 12 days he has received more information of such blasts in the ACs from both residential, business and industrial towers.

Kumar said the fire department would soon release a video about the precautionary measures to be tsken to avoid incidents of fire.
