Meerut Police have arrested a local BJP leader for allegedly hurling abuses and threatening a man during a parking dispute at a local hotel.
Police said the accused has been identified as Vikul Chaprana (28), the district vice-president of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha.

In a purported video that went viral, Vikul can be seen abusing and asking the victim to seek forgiveness with folded hands. ‘Hath jod ke, hath jod ke,’ he shouts as the man kneels down, which is followed by a flurry of expletives.
Superintendent of Police, Meerut City, Ayush Vikram Singh, said the police took cognizance of the video and the man was arrested on Tuesday. “A video has gone viral in which two groups can be seen arguing with each other. One group is also seen insulting the other. This incident is said to have happened in the Medical Nagar Police station area,” said Singh.
“The main accused has been arrested and an FIR registered on the basis of a complaint under relevant sections and further legal action is being taken,” said the SP.
The Meerut Police registered the FIR under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on the complaint of Aditya Rastogi, the victim’s younger brother who is a Noida-based software developer.
In his complaint to the police, Aditya alleged, “On Sunday around 10 pm, my brother Satyam Rastogi and his friend went to eat at Punjabi Tadka restaurant near Tejghari Square in Meerut… There, an altercation took place with Vikul Chaprana… He, along with his friends, assaulted my brother… and his friend, and behaved indecently while threatening them.”
Speaking to The Indian Express, Station House Officer, Medical College, Shilesh Kumar said the matter began over parking after Vikul had asked Satyam to move his car. “… an altercation broke out between them. Later, a police officer and his team reached the spot and tried to defuse the situation,” said the SHO.

BJP’s district mahanagar president, Meerut, Vivek Rastogi, confirmed that Vikul is the vice-president of the Kisan Morcha. “We saw the video and it is unfortunate. The party does not condone such acts. We have informed senior party leaders about the incident and a decision will be taken soon,” he told The Indian Express.
