‘BJP offered 7 AAP candidates Rs 15 crore’: MP Sanjay Singh alleges ‘Operation Lotus’ in Delhi

A day after the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the BJP was bribing AAP leaders to jump ship and join the BJP to form the new government in the national capital.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday alleged that the BJP had embarked on ‘Operation Lotus’ in Delhi and was bribing AAP leaders to jump ship so that it could form the incoming government in the national capital.

The BJP is yet to react to Singh’s allegations.

Singh told a press conference that the BJP had “already conceded defeat” a day after polling for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections concluded with a majority of exit polls giving an edge to the saffron party.

“The party which believes in trampling upon democracy, the buying-selling of legislators, breaking and toppling governments…the Bharatiya Janata Party has conceded its defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections,” Singh alleged.

“Seven of our candidates have been contacted by the BJP and have been offered Rs 15 crore each to quit, break the party and join the BJP…One or two of them they (BJP) met in person…We have told all our candidates to record these calls,” Singh further alleged, adding that those reportedly being approached in person had been asked to make video recordings of such meetings through hidden cameras.

While some of those who were allegedly contacted by the BJP were sitting legislators, the remaining were AAP candidates, Singh alleged. The BJP, he further claimed, was used to employing both money and the fear of investigation agencies to exert pressure on legislators to break away from their parties.

“They (the BJP) broke away our MP in Punjab, two of our ministers in Delhi…we tried to save Delhi despite all the struggles that came our way…we will share all the relevant information at the right time,” he said.

The Delhi election results will be announced on Saturday.
