The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will soon take over the probe into the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe bomb blast case, sources in the police department said.
A senior police officer confirmed that NIA officers from Delhi met the investigation team of the Bengaluru city police on Monday and collected details of the case.
“The NIA team is already assisting in the case. We will hand over the files in the days to come. In a day or two, the NIA would register an FIR,” the officer said.
On March 1, a bomb blast in Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe injured nine people. The probe has revealed that the blast was triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
While the Bengaluru city police have managed to get CCTV visuals of the suspect’s movement, they are yet to arrest him. The suspect came in a city bus with the number 500 D and got off at the Kundalahalli bus stand located right next to the cafe before walking to the cafe. The CCTV footage collected by the police also shows him leaving before the blast while seemingly using his cell phone.
The police have interrogated some of the terror accused linked to the 2022 Mangaluru and Shivamogga terror cases while probing the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case.
