AAP national convener and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will move to the 5, Ferozeshah Road bungalow of Ashok Mittal, the party’s Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, on Friday, thus vacating the CM residence at Civil Lines.

Mittal, founder of Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar, was picked by the AAP as one of its seven Rajya Sabha members in 2022 and was allotted the Ferozeshah Road bungalow. While the bungalow – which is close to AAP headquarters at Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane – will remain allotted to Mittal, Kejriwal and his family will move into it for the time being.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj told mediapersons that several party leaders, including MPs, MLAs and councillors, had offered Kejriwal their houses after he decided to leave 6, Flagstaff Road in north Delhi’s Civil Lines, where he lived since 2015 as the chief minister.

“After Arvind Kejriwal ji resigned from the post of CM, I found out that he did not have a house to live in. I invited him to stay as a guest in my house in Delhi. Other party workers and leaders had also invited him. I am happy to know that he has chosen my house and decided to stay with me until he finds a house,” Mittal said.

He added, “As an AAP worker and MP, this is a matter of great joy for me. I will get a chance to learn from him. I hope that in the upcoming Delhi elections, the public will support him as always and he will once again become the CM of Delhi with an absolute majority.”

Sources said that Chief Minister Atishi will move to the CM’s residence in a few weeks.

AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, meanwhile, shifted to 32, Rajendra Prasad Road — allotted to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh — on Thursday. Sisodia, who resigned as the deputy CM days after his arrest in the excise policy case in 2023, has been staying at AB-17 bungalow on Mathura Road, which was officially allotted to Atishi when she was a minister.
