Sajjan plea: Order reserved for June 2
New Delhi:A Delhi court on Saturday reserved its order for June 2 on a plea by Congress leader Sajjan Kumar,facing trial in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case,asking if witnesses can be confronted with their affidavits submitted to the judicial commissions set up to examine riot cases. District Judge J R Aryan reserved the order after hearing arguments of the counsel for CBI and the accused. Sajjan Kumar filed an application saying the CBI prosecutor had stated in court that the statement of a key witness in the case,recorded by G T Nanavati and Ranganath Mishra Commissions,could not be used due to contradictions.
22-yr-old trapped in burning car,dies
New Delhi:A 22-year-old man was charred to death inside his car in Southwest Delhis Chhawla area on Saturday morning. According to police,the victim,identified as Ashish,got stuck in his car after its engine caught fire. Police said his Swift car had central-locking system and as soon as the car caught fire,the system stopped working and all its doors were locked.
Man strangles wife in Trilokpuri
New Delhi:A 21-year-old woman was found dead in Trilokpuris Block No. 15 on Friday morning. Police said the woman was murdered by her husband,who was absconding. The incident was reported when neighbours heard screams from the victims house. She was rushed to a hospital nearby,where she was declared dead on arrival. Police said,prima facie,it seemed the couple had an argument last night and the man strangled her.
