AIFrom each school, two Computer Science teachers (TGTs/PGTs) have been randomly selected for the two-day capacity building programme at SCERT’s Defence Colony campus.

Aiming to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into classrooms to personalise learning and ensure meaningful assessment, teachers at Delhi’s government schools are set to undergo comprehensive training from Wednesday under the ‘AI-Mediated Classroom Project’.

Under this special project by the State Council of Education, Research and Training (SCERT), the training sessions will be conducted in two phases with a capacity building training for 100 computer science teachers. They will act as resource persons for select subject teachers to be trained in AI-mediated classroom practices.

As per a circular by the SCERT, the Directorate of Education (DOE) has identified and recommended 50 government schools across the Capital. The first phase of training will be conducted on Wednesday and Thursday.

“Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming every sphere of life, including education. It offers immense potential to personalise learning experiences, enhance assessment practices, and enable teachers to adopt innovative approaches in the classroom,” the circular signed by Dr Mukesh Yadav, Secretary, SCERT, Delhi said.

The circular stated, “The initiative aims to empower teachers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to utilise AI for personalised learning and meaningful assessments.” From each school, two Computer Science teachers (TGTs/PGTs) have been randomly selected for the two-day capacity building programme at SCERT’s Defence Colony campus. Following this training, the trained teachers will help build capacity among the faculty at the school level.

Following this training, the trained teachers will help build capacity among the faculty at the school level. Each school has been asked to nominate three teachers each from Mathematics, Science, English, Hindi, and Social Science, who teach students of Classes 6 to 9, by October 10.

The in-school training for these subject teachers will be conducted between October 13 and October 31, “for one or two periods per day as per the school’s convenience and feasibility,” the circular said.

Schools have been directed to submit their finalised training schedules and later provide a report containing “topics covered, attendance, feedback, and pictures and videos of training sessions” to SCERT’s ICT Cell.

The AI-Mediated Classroom Project, SCERT has said, is part of its broader effort “to foster future-ready classrooms” by strengthening teachers’ understanding of AI-based tools and pedagogical innovations in government schools.
