‘Acid Attack’ case: DU student’s brother, uncle held for false claims

According to a senior police officer, the girl’s uncle conspired with her father to orchestrate the acid attack and falsely implicate three other men. The student’s younger brother had allegedly dropped her near the college, after which she met her father, the officer added.

“During the student’s questioning, she revealed that her brother had dropped her near her college. She then took an e-rickshaw to travel further, where she met her father, who was waiting for her with a bottle of toilet cleaner,” the officer said.

The father then allegedly poured the acidic liquid on her hands and bag before fleeing on a motorcycle, the officer added. The woman began shouting for help, attracting the attention of passersby, police said.

According to police, the wife of the man who was named as an accused in the alleged acid attack case had alleged that the student’s father sexually assaulted her multiple times between 2021 and 2024, when she worked at his factory.

Meanwhile, the mother of the two other accused in the alleged acid attack case had registered a case against a relative of the student’s father for allegedly attacking her with acid in 2018 over a property dispute. According to police sources, the student’s father attempted to embroil the three men in a legal battle to avoid prosecution in these two cases.

On Monday, the girl’s father allegedly admitted to having orchestrated the attack on his daughter in order to entrap the three men in a legal dispute. Police will now decide whether legal action should be taken against the student as well. “We will produce her in court… after that, the courts will decide what legal route to take,” the officer said.
