8 govt officials get jail for fraud

Eight Delhi government officials,including three engineers,and a private contractor were on Thursday sentenced to varying jail terms by a Delhi court for forging bills in a major project for desilting a flood drain and transporting its garbage to landfill sites.

Eight Delhi government officials,including three engineers,and a private contractor were on Thursday sentenced to varying jail terms by a Delhi court for forging bills in a major project for desilting a flood drain and transporting its garbage to landfill sites. Special Judge B R Kedia sentenced three engineers,including an executive engineer of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department,besides five manual workers of the department,to jail after holding them guilty of causing a loss of Rs 4.45 lakh to the exchequer in desilting the flood drain.
