The Delhi Police has lodged 26 FIRs in connection with the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal protests held across the national capital against the violence in Haryana’s Nuh, officials said.
Senior police officers said that the FIRs were lodged against unidentified persons as the protests were held without police permission.
The police are also identifying the people who took part in the protests through CCTV footage and legal action would be taken against them accordingly, a police officer said.
“A total of 26 FIRs were lodged in connection with the protests held at 26 different locations in Delhi, including ones held in Badarpur, Dwarka and Subhash Nagar, under IPC Section 188 (any deliberate disobedience of an order that is duly promulgated by a public servant empowered by law to do so),” a senior police officer said.
Based on the analysis of the CCTV footage, further sections will be added to the FIR, the police said.
