The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested three men, aged between 19 and 21, and are looking for the fourth suspect for allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old man to death in Rohini over previous enmity.

On Monday, personnel from K N Katju Marg Police Station noticed a man lying by the side of the road in Rohini Sector 16 at around 8 pm. The man was taken to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College where he was declared ‘dead on arrival’. The man was later identified as Shakti, a resident of Sector 17 in Rohini.

In her statement to the police, Shakti’s mother named some people who she suspected because they had allegedly previously assaulted her son and threatened to kill him. The mother then registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

After the police investigation showed that the four suspects had used a red Thar to come to Sector 16, they analysed around 300 to 400 CCTV camera footage from the area, eventually identifying the vehicle and its registration number. This led them to the car’s owner and subsequently the suspects.

The police said Piyush Pandey, 19, was identified and arrested on Tuesday using local informers and technical surveillance. During his interrogation, he allegedly admitted to the murder and disclosed the identities of his accomplices. The police then arrested Rachit Rajput, 20, and Raghav Mittal, 21. The men allegedly revealed that they had a previous petty enmity with the victim.

When they saw Shakti at Sector 16 while driving in the Thar, they decided to stab him and flee.

The police said they were on the lookout for the fourth suspect.
