Two suspected members of the Kala Jathedi–Om Parkash gang have been arrested, foiling their plan to carry out a targeted killing, police said on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Vinod (27) and Dhruv (19), were arrested from Jharoda village in Southwest Delhi with two loaded country-made pistols and live cartridges in their possession, officers added.

According to police, the duo were acting on instructions from gangster Om Parkash alias, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Police said they were allegedly planning to kill a fellow villager over an old rivalry.

During surveillance, police identified two men who frequently visited Tihar Jail to meet gangster Om Parkash alias Kala and his brother, Amit, both key associates of the Kala Jathedi and Sachin alias Bhanja gang.

“They further revealed that they had joined Om Parkash’s gang through his brother, Amit, about one year ago. During this period, they were also arrested with Amit in various criminal cases. After their release from jail, they were instructed by Amit to procure arms and eliminate their target,” said DCP Dwarka Ankit Singh.

Police said Vinod is a habitual offender and has multiple previous cases under the Arms Act, while Dhruv has two prior criminal cases and was known to visit jail as a registered visitor of Amit.

An FIR under the Arms Act has been registered at Baba Haridas Nagar police station, and both accused have been remanded in custody. Police said further investigation is underway to trace their associates and verify their possible links to other criminal activities in the Capital.
