A 19-year-old girl from Mathura was allegedly gangraped by three persons at a flat in East Delhi’s Shakarpur area on Tuesday. The girl was allegedly taken there on the pretext of a job interview. No arrests have been made so far, but the police have identified all three accused and hunt is on to nab them.

According to the police, the victim, who hails from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, had come to the capital to look for a job. “The victim told the police that she had been staying with her sister in South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar. On Monday, she said, she met a person named Zubair on the internet who posed himself to be an employee of a placement agency and promised a job with a good salary,” the officer added.

The victim claimed that she was called by Zubair to Laxmi Nagar on Tuesday afternoon for an interview and he then picked her up from Laxmi Nagar metro station in his car.

“He took her to the fourth floor of a flat in Laxmi Nagar where his two associates Shahid and Amjad, were waiting. They later raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone. Zubair then dropped her back to Laxmi Nagar metro station,” the officer said.

As soon as Zubair left, the victim, along with her sister, went to the Shakarpur police station to file a complaint. The victim was taken for a medical examination which confirmed rape. A case of rape was registered in connection with the incident.
