With deadline drawing near, RLA yet to complete affixing of HSRP

However, the reasons for such a slow process is the less number of locations, where the HSRP number plates get fixed and the process of opening up only one series at a time, on a monthly basis. There are only three locations, where the HSRP plates are fixed. Since last two years, the RLA has been planning to open up at least five to six extra locations in the city to escalate the capacity of the vendors, so that approximately three series could be completed in a month but the same plan has been hanging fire.

Geeta Sareen, Registering and Licensing Officer (RLO) said, “We are doing our best to complete all our series and meet the deadline but the residents never get their plates fixed in time. We cannot run after them. Deadline is set for them as well.”

She added, “We have almost completed with the series, ‘CH-01’ and are left with CH-03 and CH-04, which has very few numbers and would not take more than a month to get it done.” CH-02 is with the State Transport Authority (STA).

While, the sources say that no state or UT will be able to meet the deadline since the process had only gained momentum towards the end of 2013, which is why the deadline might be extended.

While, according to the only private vendor, ‘Real Mazon India Ltd.’, it is practically not possible to open up so many locations and to set up the same infrastructure at those locations. These days, the vendors are busy fixing the HSRPs for the CH-01-AA series.
