Schools abuzz with festive joy,give call for a ‘Green Diwali’

MOHALI:To spread awareness about the harmful effects of pollution,more than 300 students of DAV Public Senior Secondary School took out a rally in Phase X here and raised slogans such as ‘No crackers,no pollution’ and ‘No crackers,safe Diwali’ on Thursday. The anti-cracker rally was flagged off by principal Dr Rosy Sharma.  “It’s our moral duty to not only make our students aware about social and environmental issues but also exhort them to sensitise the community towards the same,” said Sharma.

PANCHKULA:A special Diwali assembly was organised at Blue Bird High School,Sector 16,on Thursday. A skit based on the Ramayana was also performed. Sixty students participated in the celebrations. The school was also decorated with flower buntings and rangoli. Director Ravi Bhatnagar wished all students a happy Diwali and urged them to enjoy a sound and smoke-free festival.

PARWANOO:Diwali was celebrated with gaiety at St Vivekanand Millennium School,HMT Township,Pinjore,on Thursday. P D Choudhary,deputy manager,HMT Limited,graced the occasion as chief guest. Students paid obeisance to Goddess Durga by presenting a Dandiya performance. Principal Usha Bali urged the staff and students to enjoy a safe Diwali and also donate money to the needy.
