Amid the tension prevailing since the July 31 communal violence, Haryana’s Nuh district has finally got some good news: it has risen from the 30th position to the second place among the 112 aspirational districts in the country, an official Thursday said.
“The diligent efforts made by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the progress of Nuh under the Aspirational Districts Programme has yielded positive results as it has successfully moved from the 30th position to the second position in Niti Aayog’s Delta ranking. This is a remarkable achievement and indicates that the strategies and guidelines provided by the CM during the meeting held last month have been effective in driving positive change in the district,” a government spokesperson said, adding that the programme aimed to uplift and develop the most socio-economically challenged districts in the country.
Nuh Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata said, “Continuous efforts are on to improve the ranking of the district on other parameters of aspirational districts as well. The ranking of the district has been at first place in the parameters of agriculture and water resources. Its score has increased from 26.2 to 30.7. Similarly, the ranking in health and nutrition parameters has been in second place with an increase from 64.9 to 71.3. Due to continuous improvement in the ranking of other departments, the district has bagged an overall second position.”
According to Khadgata, the Niti Aayog’s ranking had about 87 parameters. “In these, there were many works of other departments including dropout, institutional delivery, irrigation, agriculture, and health that needed to be improved. Nuh district is continuously improving its ranking,” he said.
He also said that officials were working hard to make sure that Nuh is excluded from the list of backward districts.
“The Aspirational Districts Programme is a part of the government’s endeavour to raise the standard of living of its citizens and ensure inclusive development for all under the vision of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas,’ Khadgata said.
Among the objectives of the programme, the deputy commissioner listed giving benefits to the people by making large-scale improvements in health and nutrition, education and agriculture and water resources.
“The programme focuses on improving the capacity of people to participate fully in a growing economy, ensuring optimum utilisation of their potential. Health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development and basic infrastructure are the thrust areas of the programme,” he added.
