Neerja Bhanot honoured

The ‘Courage of Conviction Karamveer Puraskar’ was conferred on Neerja Bhanot posthumously by iCONGO at a ceremony held in New Delhi. Her brother,Akhil Bhanot,received it. Neerja was a flight attendant with Pan Am airlines and died while protecting three children from terrorists’ bullets on board the hijacked Pan Am Clipper 73 on September 5,1986. She became the youngest recipient of the Ashok Chakra,the highest gallantry honour awarded to civilians and security personnel during peacetime.
