Unidentified assailants on Thursday fired five rounds of bullets at a gym owner in the Phase-2 market parking lot in Punjab’s Mohali, leaving him gravely injured.
According to the police, the incident occurred near the Phase 1 and Phase 2 light points around 4.45 am.
Hearing the gunshots, several nearby residents rushed to the spot and found the gym owner, Vicky, bleeding profusely. He was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital, where doctors described his condition as critical, said the police at the Phase-1 station, which has begun an intensive investigation.
“According to initial information, Vicky had arrived at his gym in his Baleno car when bike-borne attackers opened fire on him,” a police officer said, adding that bullets struck both his legs.
The Phase-2 market security guard promptly alerted the police. “The shooters have not yet been identified,” an officer confirmed. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as teams work to trace the assailants and establish a motive.
“Forensic experts are examining the site to determine the exact circumstances of the attack. Legal action will follow once the investigation is complete,” said Jaswant Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector, who reached the crime scene.
