Mohali dumping ground: GMADA gets HC notice

Residents of Rassenheri village near Mohali have approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court for quashing the notifications issued under Section 4 and 6 of the Land Acquisition Act for acquiring land for a dumping ground in proximity to their houses.

Residents of Rassenheri village near Mohali have approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court for quashing the notifications issued under Section 4 and 6 of the Land Acquisition Act for acquiring land for a dumping ground in proximity to their houses. The proposed location of the dumping ground in Sector 102,Mohali,has apparently been shifted from Sector 74 after people had protested. The petitioner,Rassenheri Swara Dumping Ground Sangharsh Committee,through its chairman Hatrinder Pal Singh,has submitted that the new location was within the developed area where educational and other institutions are functioning.

The local MLA has also opposed its location.
