Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday launched a fresh attack against the top Sikh clergy in the state saying that if they had interest in politics, they should get their names included in the list of star campaigners of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Specifically targeting Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committe chief Harjinder Singh Dhami, Mann, in an interview to a TV channel, said the apex gurdwara body should worry about management of the Sikh shrines and not indulge in politics. He said the SGPC chief should be a religious leader taking religious decisions.
This was the second time that Mann slammed Dhami for campaigning in favour of the SAD-BSP candidate Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi for the May 10 Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll. Dhami had earlier asserted that campaigning for a party was the constitutional right of everyone.
