A man who ran a hotel in Zirakpur town in Punjab’s Mohali district was allegedly murdered by his business partner early on Friday morning. The police said that one person has been arrested and teams are on the lookout for the other suspects.
According to the police, Shivam Shukla and his friend Shivam Arya alias Gautam, who hailed from Ayodhya district in Uttar Pradesh, ran a hotel named Royal Galaxy on lease in Zirakpur. A few days ago, Arya and two friends allegedly threatened Shukla and told him that they wanted to run the hotel.
“Shivam objected and they fought over this. I also work at the hotel. On Friday, at around 3 am, I heard some cries and went downstairs to find Arya and his two friends beating my cousin. Arya stabbed my cousin multiple times,” Shukla’s cousin Neeraj Tiwari said in his complaint to the police.
Zirakpur Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Simarjeet Shergill said that a preliminary investigation suggested that a monetary dispute was the reason behind the murder.
