Lok Sabha Elections: Here’s a look at the assets of Chandigarh’s BJP candidate

According to the documents, Sanjay Tandon has got movable assets of Rs 35,03,99,890 while his wife has got movable assets of Rs 17,51,68,876, making it Rs 52.55 crore.

As far as the immovable assets are concerned, Sanjay has worth Rs 25,58,58,933 — all self- acquired — while his wife has got immovable assets of Rs 9,48,23,933, making it Rs 35,06,82,866.

According to the documents, as per the income tax return filed by the duo for the fiscal 2023-24, Sanjay’s income was Rs 2.90 crore while that of his wife’s was Rs 1.04 crore.

AGRICULTURE LAND, PLOTS, SHARE IN COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS

From agricultural land to plots to shares in commercial buildings to multiple fixed deposits, Sanjay duo has got it all.

According to the details of immovable assets, in village Khuda Ali Sher in Chandigarh, Sanjay has got 5 kanal and 12 marla which were purchased on December 23, 2015 for a price of Rs 84.90 lakh and the market value of the same today is Rs 1.84 crore. His wife Priya has 8 kanal and 19.5 marla, market value of which is Rs 2.96 crore and it mentions “inherited” while that of Sanjay is not inherited.

In the “non-agricultural land property”, Sanjay has got C-157 in phase 7 Industrial Area, Mohali — a 45,000 square foot plot which was purchased in 2005 for a price of Rs 40.35 lakh — the market value of the same today is Rs 12.50 crore. An additional investment on this land was made for Rs 2.57 crore.

In the commercial buildings category, Sanjay has got a 25 per cent share in Ansal plaza- a 192.25 square feet while a 5 per cent share in SCO 103-104, Sector 17b Chandigarh.

In the residential buildings, Sanjay and Priya have got a 50 per cent share in their house number 1636, Sector 18-D, which is about 5.05 crore as of today’s market value each (Rs 10.10 crore total).

Then, Sanjay also purchased a town house at residential tower “villa verde” on plot no A-45, Industrial focal point in phase 8-B Mohali in March 2022, approximate market value of which is Rs 5 crore today. Sanjay’s wife Priya also got one sixth share in another house in Sector 18-D market value of which is Rs 1.46 crore.

The total current market value of these immovable assets of Sanjay is Rs 25.58 crore while that of his wife is Rs 9.48 crore. As per the liabilities Sanjay has taken loan of Rs 5.59 crore while his wife’s got nil.

According to the documents, if one sees Sanjay’s movable assets, he has got Rs 35.03 crore as just movable assets while that of his wife are 17.51 crore.

Sanjay has just got Rs 44,163 cash in hand, but his list of FDs and savings is long — 48 fixed deposits of Sanjay alone. The FDs pertain to 2023-24. He has got 25 FDs with ICICI bank, 17 with HDFC, three with Yes Bank, one with PNB and two with SBI.

He has got a fixed deposit of Rs 1.5 crore with ICICI bank in Sector 9, Chandigarh, and he had invested the same on September 12, 2023. A day after, on September 13, 2023, another FD of Rs 1.50 crore was done. Day after on September 14, 2023, another FD of Rs 1.40 crore was made.

Sanjay got an FD of Rs 3.30 lakh done on February 14, 2023, and then on February 21, 2023, he got an FD of Rs 1.85 lakh done. Then again on March 14, 2023, an FD was done for Rs 75,000. In April again, three FDs of Rs 75,000, Rs 1.85 lakh and Rs 30,000 were made.

In May, FDs of Rs 41.65 lakh, Rs 7.10 lakh were done, according to the records. After this, 15 fixed deposits of various FDs with the same bank have been reflected in the document.

Then 17 fixed deposits by Sanjay in HDFC bank are separate that were made, followed by three FDs in YES Bank, one in PNB, two in SBI bank. Then there are savings account separate, PPF separate, shares of Rs 84.83 lakh, unquoted shares of Rs 1.06 crore. He has two LIC policies, and 82 grams gold and four watches worth Rs 15.40 lakh.

His wife Priya has got 1402 grams gold, 4800 gram silver, three watches and 148 carats of diamond worth Rs 1.14 crore.

The total current market value of these immovable assets of Sanjay is Rs 25.58 crore while that of his wife is Rs 9.48 crore. As per the liabilities Sanjay has taken loan of Rs 5.59 crore while his wife’s got nil.

Priya has got 24 fixed deposits of lakhs in ICICI bank, three FDs in YES bank, seven FDs in UBI bank and 10 FDs in Canara Bank. She has got four savings bank account, one PPF and quoted securities of Rs 53.96 lakh and unquoted shares of Rs 35.41 lakh apart from investment in mutual fund of Rs 21.90 lakh. Two LIC policies are separate. Priya has got movable assets of Rs 17.51 crore.
