Inspector’s son held for kidnapping 23-year-old

The son of a UT police officer was arrested on charges of allegedly kidnapping and thrashing a Zirakpur resident from Sector 27 at gunpoint along with his friends on Monday evening.

The son of a UT police officer was arrested on charges of allegedly kidnapping and thrashing a Zirakpur resident from Sector 27 at gunpoint along with his friends on Monday evening.

The accused has been identified as Parminder Singh,26,son of UT Police Inspector Tarsem Rana.

According to police,the victim,Tarun (23),runs a mobile shop in Sector 27 along with his brother. Tarun’s brother Hemant Kumar Yadav alleged that the incident took place around 6 pm when his brother had gone on the rear side of the shop. Hemant claimed that an eyewitness told them that an Innova car (bearing registration number HR-60-A-0200) having several occupants allegedly dragged Tarun inside the car at gunpoint. He alleged that his brother was beaten up and robbed of cash by the accused. Tarun was thrown out of the car on Sector 15/16 road in Panchkula.

After the accused left him on the road,Tarun called up his brother after which he informed the police.

Meanwhile,police brought Tarun to Chandigarh and sent him for a medical examination.

Based on the number of the Innova car,Parminder,a Sector 26 resident,was later arrested from Harmilp Nagar. An Innova and an Alto car were seized by the police. The ownership of the cars was being identified by the police.

Police said that Tarun was kidnapped owing to an old dispute of the accused with his younger brother. The other accused were currently at large.

A case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station.
