IAS officer Vivek Atray given new posting orders

Atray was then an HCS officer and posted as Director Tourism in Chandigarh Administration. Although CBI filed closure report twice in the case, this was rejected by the court.

With the Centre not having approved IAS officer Vivek Atray’s plea for voluntary retirement from service, Haryana on Monday issued posting orders to him. He has been posted as Secretary, Monitoring and Coordination Department. Atray had sought VRS in July this year. While Haryana had approved his resignation and forwarded it to the Centre for further processing, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) sought details from the state of the corruption charges against him in an amusement-cum-theme park project in Chandigarh.

Atray was booked by CBI along with two other officials, including former UT Adviser Lalit Sharma and former Home Secretary Krishan Mohan (who retired in 2013), on charges of corruption in allotment of the project to a private builder in 2010. Atray was then an HCS officer and posted as Director Tourism in Chandigarh Administration. Although CBI filed closure report twice in the case, this was rejected by the court.

Atray, who has around 10 years of service left, had been on leave since the second week of March this year. He rejoined service on July 4, but refused to take charge of his post of Director Industries and Commerce. He has been delivering motivational lectures at various places.
