Nigerian-British Rapper Tion Wayne Thursday visited the Moosa village of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in Mansa and shot visuals for his upcoming song video.
Wayne also visited the spot at the Jawahar Ke village where Moosewala was shot dead on May 29, 2022, and his memorial at the cremation site.
Wayne had collaborated with Moosewala for the Punjabi singer’s song ‘Celebrity Killer’, released in 2021. He wanted to feature Moosewala’s village and home in his upcoming video, and came to the village to meet Moosewala’s parents — father Balkaur Singh and mother Charan Kaur.
Balkaur Singh, in fact, drove Wayne around on Moosewala’s favourite HMT 5911 tractor. A few tractor stuntmen came to the Moose village to show their skills to Wayne, who wore a white kurta pajama for the music video sequences shot in the village.
“Wayne is a singer with Nigerian roots. He lives in the UK. He worked on a Punjabi song with Sidhu. He wanted Sidhu to work on a Nigerian song. This is how different cultures come together and share among themselves,” Balkaur Singh said.
“It feels good to see what Moosewala started and thought is happening now. But it also makes us miss him. The festivity here due to Wayne’s visit would have been of a different scale if he (Moosewala) was still among us,” he added.
“Sidhu is no more among us but he wanted to show Sidhu’s village, home and culture through his video to the rest of the world. This shooting is a step in that way,” said Balkaur Singh on the shooting of Wayne’s song.
Jalandhar: Slain singer Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh will take out “Insaaf Yatra-Justice for Sidhu Mussewala” from Phillaur area on Friday ahead of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll on May 10.
Balkaur said the yatra will start on Friday and culminate on Saturday evening after covering all nine Assembly segments of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat.
According to the schedule of the yatra, it will start from Bada Pind in the Phillaur Assembly segment at 11 am and will march towards Roorka Kalan, Jandiala, Nurmahal, Uggi, Lohina and Shahkot by covering Phillaur, Nakodar, Jalandhar Cantt and Shahkot Assembly segments.
By posting a video on social media, Balkaur has appealed to all the people of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency to participate in his yatra in large numbers for getting justice for his son. He said that he can get justice for his son only through the people.
“Although I appeal for justice every Sunday, on May 5 when I start this march, kindly participate from where you can and then we will discusss this issue,” he said.
His yatra may impact the poll prospects of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which won 92 out of 117 seats during the Assembly elections, but lost its lone Lok Sabha seat in Sangrur just three months after coming to power last year.
