High energy materials conference to be held

A large number of delegates comprising scientists and researchers from over 13 countries will be participating in a High Energy Materials Conference and Exhibit ‘HEMCE-2011’ scheduled to be organised from November 10-12,by the Chandigarh-Delhi Chapter of the High Energy Materials Society of India at the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory,Ramgarh Range to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Year of TBRL.

A large number of delegates comprising scientists and researchers from over 13 countries will be participating in a High Energy Materials Conference and Exhibit ‘HEMCE-2011’ scheduled to be organised from November 10-12,by the Chandigarh-Delhi Chapter of the High Energy Materials Society of India (HEMSI) at the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL),Ramgarh Range to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Year of TBRL.

The High Energy Materials Society of India was founded to provide a forum for interaction among scientists and researchers working in the field of high energy materials and related technologies in research laboratories of DRDO,DAE,ISRO,academic institutions and industries of the country.

The conference is aimed at reducing the technology gap between the developed countries and India through participation of international scientists and experts in international conferences like High Energy Materials Conference and Exhibit-2011.

According to Dr Manjit Singh,Director,TBRL,Chandigarh and Convener,High Energy Materials Conference and Exhibit-2011,“The Theme of HEMCE-2011 will be on development and characterisation of high energy materials for insensitive munitions and advances made in detonics for in-depth understanding of various aspects of high energy materials. The emerging world of nano energetic,green explosives,detection and disposal of IEDs will also be the thrust areas of the conference.

“This will open new avenues for application of these materials in defence,space and other civil sector.

“An exhibition of industrial products like processing and evaluation equipments,instruments and software for energetic material research will also be held as part of HEMCE-2011.”

The conference shall be inaugurated by Shivraj V Patil,Governor,Punjab and Dr Srikumar Banerjee,Chairman Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary to Government of India,Department of Atomic Energy will be the guest of honour.
