Seven people, including three children, died in Haryana in separate roof collapse incidents caused by the heavy rain in the state, officials said on Wednesday. The incidents were reported in Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Kurukshetra, and Yamunanagar.
In Kalinga village in Bhiwani district, three girls died early on Wednesday morning after being trapped under the debris of their house, which collapsed in the rain. Their parents and brother were seriously injured in the incident.

Jaibir said that Ompal had been included in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana after a survey, but the construction of his new house was yet to begin.
Village Secretary Ajay said that due to continuous rain for the last three days, the entire village was waterlogged, leading the administration to deploy pumps and tractors to remove water.
Ompal’s uncle, Manbir, said that a lot of water had collected behind the wall of the house Ompal was staying in, and this caused the structure to collapse.
Villagers, alerted to the incident at around 5 am after passersby spotted the collapsed house, rushed the family to Rohtak Medical College.

Daily wage labourer killed
In Bandi village, located in the Radaur area of Yamunanagar district, the mud roof of a house collapsed on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of Maan Singh, 45. His wife and three children sustained injuries in the incident.
Singh, a daily wage labourer, stayed in an old house with his family. According to reports, several days of continuous heavy rain in the area had weakened the house’s foundation. Water had allegedly accumulated around the structure, causing the base to sink, which led to the sudden collapse of the roof.
At around 7 am, a metal girder fell on Singh’s head. Within seconds, the entire roof, including wooden beams and mud, came crashing down, burying the entire family under the debris. Upon receiving the news, villagers rushed to the scene and began rescue efforts immediately.
The family was pulled out from the rubble and rushed to the hospital. Doctors declared Singh dead, while his injured wife and children are undergoing treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
“According to preliminary findings, the weakened foundation due to heavy rainfall is believed to be the primary cause of the collapse. The police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident,” Rajpal, the Radaur police station in-charge, said. Singh’s body has been sent for a post-mortem.
