As many as 3300 seats are lying vacant in various streams, even as the third round of counselling for Class XI admissions in government schools will be held on Tuesday. The students who applied in the first and the second counselling are yet to get admission.
The candidates who failed to get admission through the first or second counselling,or couldnt apply for the admissions earlier, are the ones suffering.
One of the students,Arjun Prasad, said,I want admission in Science stream but these counselling sessions have become a trouble. My friends in private schools are already done with almost a unit of their books, but I dont even know the names of the books. This is a long procedure, and lot of our time has been wasted.
One Rajbir Singh, father of a student, said,My daughter couldnt get admission in the second counselling. I have met the DPI(S),DEO,to ensure her admission but they have simply asked us to wait till the third round of counselling. There are so many students in the waiting list, how can I be sure of my daughters admission?
In the third round of counselling, which will be held from 9 am to 1 pm,students who wish to change their stream or their schools can also apply. The list of the selected students and of vacant seats in each stream will be displayed on the education departments website by afternoon.
