Chand Kaur murder- Uday Singh trains guns on estranged brother: ‘No reason not to suspect him’

The incumbent Satguru of the Namdhari sect, Thakur Uday Singh came out against his estranged brother Thakur Dalip Singh on Wednesday alleging his involvement in the murder of their matriarchal head Chand Kaur. Chand Kaur was shot dead on Monday at the Dera headquarters in Bhaini Sahib. Her nephew Uday Singh had since refrained from directly blaming his brother.
In the latest development he called Thakur Dalip Singh the ‘prime suspect’ in the case. “There is no reason to not to suspect his involvement. Earlier too, he had engineered such attacks through this followers. His men are accused in a car bomb blast case in Jalandhar and are still absconding. The police needs to investigate and bring out the real culprits,” said Uday Singh.

He was referring to a low intensity blast in December, in which the main accused are Dimple, Ratan Singh and Mehanga Singh – allegedly from Dalip Singh’s faction. Uday Singh’s faction alleges that Mehenga Singh was the driver of Dalip Singh and that they had planned to kill the Satguru.
Police, however, have till date not come out with any connection between the bomb blast and the disquiet in the Namdhari sect. A certain Jagmohan Singh was arrested in connection with the case. Meanwhile, Punjab Director general of police (DGP) Suresh Arora inspected the crime spot at Bhaini Sahib on Wednesday.
In his meeting with Satguru Uday Singh that lasted almost 20 minutes, he assured that police will soon arrest the
culprits. He added that phone call details are being traced and various other ‘vital clues’ are with police.
“Soon, culprits will be arrested,” said DGP. Thakur Dalip Singh has categorically denied his involvement in the murder.
Uday Singh and Dalip Singh – are nephews to Satguru late Jagjit Singh, husband of the victim. A succession row followed after Jagjit Singh’s death in 2012. Chand Kaur had supported Uday Singh as his successor. Dalip Singh however told The Indian Express that he wanted Chand Kaur to be the Satguru.
