Train derails in Odisha, all passengers safe

The ECoR said all passengers were safe and there were no reports of injuries or casualty. The cattle was killed in the accident.

A passenger train derailed in Odisha’s Sambalpur after hitting a cattle on Wednesday evening, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) said. The ECoR said all passengers were safe and there were no reports of injuries or casualty. The cattle was killed in the accident.

“Due to cattle run over, four wheels of a coach of Jharsuguda -Sambalpur MEMU Passenger Special got off the track at about 6:25pm while travelling on Sarla-Sambalpur section. Trolley of 4th coach from front loco got off track,” said a ECoR spokesperson. The track was declared fit at 8.35 pm for train movement, an official said.
