Odisha cops issue public notice against ‘missing’ IPS officer

Odisha Police on Thursday issued a public notice after it could not establish contact with senior IPS officer NB Bharathi (55), who remained incommunicado and has not joined duty since past three years and was also found guilty for “misconduct” subsequently.

The public notice issued through newspaper advertisements, asked the 1998-batch IPS officer to submit her written representation on the inquiry findings within 15 days from issuance of the notice.

Bharathi was last posted as Inspector General of police, Human Rights Protection Cell. In 2017, disciplinary action was initiated against her for alleged unauthorised absence for weeks. Though she later joined duty, she has not joined duty since November 2019.
