SIT files 1,632-page second chargesheet against Prajwal Revanna for sexual assault on family help

The 1,632-page chargesheet, which is backed by 113 witnesses, pertains to a rape case registered by SIT on May 8 after a middle-aged woman was rescued on May 5 from a farmhouse near Mysuru. The woman was allegedly kept in confinement after being identified in the videos of sexual assaults on women recorded by Prajwal Revanna on his mobile phone.

The victim and her husband used to work at a plantation owned by H D Revanna, the father of the former MP and a senior party MLA. During a visit to the plantation in 2021, Prajwal Revanna allegedly attacked the victim by calling her to his room. He also threatened her by claiming he would release the video of the assault he recorded.

Prajwal Revanna has been also charged under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act for recording and sharing the attacks on women and for the destruction of evidence. Forensic reports have established the former MP’s involvement in the offence, the SIT has stated.

Three cases of rape and one of sexual harassment have been filed by women allegedly assaulted by Prajwal Revanna, who has been in prison since May 31 after he was arrested. The first chargesheet against Prajwal Revanna was filed on August 23 for sexual assault on a cook who worked for the Revanna family and the alleged sexual harassment of the cook’s daughter during video phone calls.
