The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday questioned the accountability of the Karnataka Government after videos and photos of a group of men offering namaz at the Kempegowdagowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru went viral.

In a video, a group of men can be seen offering namaz just outside the gate of Terminal 2 at KIA as a team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) stands nearby.

While Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) declined to comment on the issue, a source said the video was shot near Gate 3 of the airport’s Terminal 2.

After the videos were widely shared on social media, BJP Karnataka unit spokesperson Vijay Prasad questioned the state government, tagging Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Priyank Kharge, regarding whether those offering prayers had obtained prior permission.

“How is this even allowed inside the T2 Terminal of Bengaluru International Airport? Hon’ble Chief Minister @siddaramaiah and Minister @PriyankKharge do you approve of this? Did these individuals obtain prior permission to offer Namaz in a high-security airport zone?” Prasad posted on X Sunday.

“Why is it that the government objects when the RSS conducts Patha Sanchalana after obtaining due permission from the concerned authorities, but turns a blind eye to such activities in a restricted public area? Does this not pose a serious security concern in such a sensitive zone?” Prasad asked.

A KIA source said there is a prayer room within the terminal, but the group prayed outside the airport gate.

An officer at the KIA Police Station said the airport doesn’t fall under their jurisdiction, and they have not received any complaints regarding the issue.
