A 46-year-old man, who had gone missing after allegedly killing his wife, was found dead in Bengaluru on Saturday. The police believe that the murder accused has died by suicide.
The man, identified as Mahesh Kumar, was discovered hanging from a tree after the murder of his wife, Meena (35). He worked as a crane operator and was native of Maharashtra.
On Friday night, Meena, a housekeeper by profession, was found in a pool of blood at their Hulimavu residence around 7.30 pm. Mahesh was missing from the scene. He’d left behind his mobile phone and the house was found locked from the outside.
The next day, passersby discovered Kumar’s body hanging from a tree and alerted the authorities.
What the police said
As per the police, Kumar harbored suspicions that Meena was involved in an extramarital affair. Confrontations between the couple escalated when Meena allegedly admitted to the relationship but refused to end it. During a fight on Friday evening, Kumar struck Meena with a rod, and proceeded to flee the scene.
Kumar had previously expressed to his son that he had considered killing Meena but held back out of concern for his son’s future.
Before leaving, Kumar made a final call to his son’s girlfriend, asking her to care for his son. He also attempted to contact his son but was unsuccessful.
