Karnataka police recruitment scam: Out on bail, ‘kingpin’ Patil flees after pushing cops

CID officers initially waited outside with a warrant while ED officers raided his Kalaburagi home on Thursday.

Wanted at least in eight cases related to the scam, R D Patil was lodged in prison in April last year and released on bail.

Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam alleged kingpin Rudragouda Patil, alias R D Patil, 38, who is out on conditional bail escaped arrest after pushing CID officials who had gone to take him into custody on Thursday.

R D Patil had spent some time in prison in April last year and was released on conditional bail but allegedly did not comply with the conditions. The CID had recently informed the court that he was absconding and did not appear for questioning.

According to the complaint, R D Patil is wanted in at least eight cases related to the scam.

A team of ED officials questioned Patil at his house on Thursday. The CID officials, too, reached with an arrest warrant around 5.30pm. After ED’s questioning, R D Patil came out and the CID personnel tried to detain him, but he pushed the cops away and fled. Kalaburagi City Police Commissioner R Chetan said a case has been registered and efforts are on to trace him.
