Karnataka Lokyaukta raids 8 govt officers accused of amassing disproportionate assets

The Karnataka Lokayukta police raided offices and house of the accused officers in Bengaluru city, Chikkamagalur, Bidar, Belagavi, Tumakuru, Gadag, Ballari, and Raichur.

The Karnataka Lokayukta Police conducted simultaneous raids across the state on January 8, 2025, targeting eight government officials accused of amassing disproportionate assets. The searches were carried out at over 38 locations, including the residences, offices, and properties of the accused and their relatives. The Lokayukta sleuths recovered a total of Rs 21 crore including movable and immovable properties from eight government officials across transport, health and family welfare, minor irrigation, backward class among other departments.

• M. Shobha, Joint Commissioner, Transport Department, Bengaluru: Assets worth Rs 3.09 crore were unearthed, including Rs 45.36 lakh in immovable properties and Rs 2.63 crore in movable assets like cash, jewelry, and bank deposits.

• S.N. Umesh, Taluk Health Officer, Chikkamagaluru: Assets worth Rs 1.25 crore were uncovered, comprising Rs 56.78 lakh in immovable properties and Rs 68.41 lakh in movable assets, including vehicles and jewelry.

• Ravindra Metre, Assistant Engineer, Minor Irrigation Department, Bidar: Assets worth Rs 2.25 crore were found, with Rs1.72 crore in immovable properties and Rs 53.60 lakh in movable assets.

• Prakash S. Gayakwad, Tahsildar, Belagavi: Properties worth Rs 4.41 crore were recorded, including Rs 3.58 crore in immovable properties like houses and agricultural land, and Rs 83.12 lakh in movable assets.

• S. Raju, Retired Regional Transport Officer, Bengaluru: The highest seizure of assets worth Rs 5.02 crore were discovered, including Rs 4.27 crore in immovable properties and Rs 74.85 lakh in movable assets.

• Huchappa A. Bandiwaddar, AEE, Municipal Council, Gadag: Assets worth Rs 1.58 crore were unearthed, including Rs 76.50 lakh in immovable properties and Rs 82.46 lakh in movable assets.

• R.H. Lokesh, Backward Classes Welfare Officer, Ballari: Properties worth Rs 2.03 crore were identified, including Rs 1.46 crore in immovable assets and Rs 57.60 lakh in movable assets.

• Huliraj alias Hulugappa, Junior Engineer, GESCOM, Raichur: Assets worth Rs 1.38 crore were found, including Rs 1.20 crore in immovable properties and Rs17.88 lakh in movable assets.
