The Kacheguda-Yesvantpur Vande Bharat express connecting two major tech cities – Hyderabad and Bengaluru – clocked a maximum speed of 110 kmph during the trial run Thursday. It is slated to be formally launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 24.
The Vande Bharat train left Kacheguda at 5:30 am Thursday and reached Bengaluru’s Yesvantpur railway station at 13:15 pm, almost 20-30 minutes earlier than the scheduled arrival. The train maintained a speed of over 100 kmph between Dharmavaram and Yesvantpur, resulting in it arriving earlier than expected.
The Vande Bharat Express is expected to cover a distance of 609.81 km in 8 hours 30 minutes – which is one to two hours less than taken by existing trains running between Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
However, as per the tentative stoppage list, the express train does not have any stoppage in Karnataka apart from the terminal station of Yesvantpur. This came as a disappointment to some rail enthusiasts who hoped that the train would run via Raichur and stop at Yelahanka.
The high-speed train has stoppages in Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Dhone, Kurnool City, and Mahbubnagar. Meanwhile, the railway ministry is yet to notify the ticket fares for the Vande Bharat train. The train with seven chair car coaches and one executive car coach is expected to run six days a week, except on Wednesdays. When launched, it would become Karnataka’s third Vande Bharat train.
