Hours after former BJP minister Ramesh Jarkiholi claimed that the downfall of the Congress government in Karnataka and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar would start from Belagavi, abusive posters surfaced at Jarkiholi’s residence in Bengaluru Monday. The police reached the spot around midnight and removed the posters.

Although it is unclear whether Shivakumar’s followers pasted the posters, the police said they knew who all were behind the act. A senior police officer said, “We know who has done it but we have not received any complaints so far. If we receive a complaint, we will initiate action.”

Jarkiholi Monday claimed Karnataka could see a BJP government being formed along the ‘Maharashtra model’, adding that the responsibility for the possible collapse of the Siddaramaiah government would lie with Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar.

Jarkiholi’s statement came after Mandya Congress MLA Ravikumar Gowda recently said party legislators were being offered Rs 50 crore and ministerial berths to switch loyalties.

In 2019, Jarkiholi was one of the 16 MLAs who left the JD(S)-Congress coalition and crossed over to the BJP, citing differences with Shivakumar.
