The Bengaluru traffic police have relaunched their website with new features including links to pay traffic fines and monitor traffic congestion in real time around the city. The revamped website of the Bengaluru traffic police btp.gov.in was launched by City Police Commissioner B Dayanand on Friday.

“The old website has been revamped and new features have been added. One of the key elements is the addition of a traffic violations link. The payment of traffic challans can be done through this feature,” the Bengaluru city police commissioner said.

“In the same way a link on the new site will allow road users to check the traffic situation in different parts of the city and the best roads to be used to avoid traffic jams and reach their destinations,” he said.

The live traffic congestion map uses the Google maps to indicate areas marked in red where the traffic situation is congested and suggests routes with the least time required to reach a destination.

The website uses enhanced data analytics to provide a traffic situation map, which gives real-time updates on traffic congestion, road closures and diversions, said a statement from the traffic police.

There are three main sections in the website: traffic management, enforcement and road safety. “Navigating through these sections public users will be able to report traffic violations, register complaints and suggestions, pay traffic challans/dispute challans,” the traffic police said in a statement.

Under the ‘Navigate Bengaluru’ section, the public have a dedicated platform to give route suggestions and help navigate through the city with live traffic data,” the police said.

The Bengaluru traffic police have recently won three awards for the use of technology for traffic monitoring and regulation.

“Bengaluru police have been in the lead in terms of use of cutting edge technology and the recent awards are an indication that we are maintaining the edge. The kind of technology and the kind of traffic policing that we do is very advanced,” Dayanand said.

The new website will also integrate traffic alerts that are put out currently on a daily basis on individual social media handles of the traffic police stations as well by the traffic DCPs and the headquarters.

The website has been designed and developed by the Centre for e-Governance of Karnataka Government.
