13-year-old boy dies by suicide in Bengaluru

A 13-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide at his residence in south Bengaluru on Monday morning, the police said.

The police identified the deceased as G Gaandhar, the younger son of musician Ganesh Prasad and folk singer Savita, who was in Australia for a programme at the time.

A Class 7 student at a private school in Padmanabhanagar, Gaandhar’s body was discovered by Prasad at around 6 am at his residence in Banagirinagar in CK Achukattu. The police have registered an unnatural death report.

Family sources said the incident was completely unexpected, with no apparent warning signs.

“Ganesh said Gaandhar appeared normal on Sunday night and dined with him and his elder son. Neither the father nor the elder brother, who is a degree student, knows why he took this extreme step,” a police officer said.

Gaandhar’s body has been shifted to KIMS Hospital, where an autopsy will be conducted.
