Sutrapada constable suspended

Bhavsinh Barad, a police constable attached to the Sutrapada police station in Gir Somnath, was suspended from service Monday after his arrest in a case registered under the Gujarat Prohibition Act.

Manoharsinh Jadeja, superintendent of Gir Somnath district police, said the constable has been suspended for his alleged involvement in a liquor case.

Barad’s suspension comes two days after he was arrested by Sutrapada police Saturday. He was sent to police remand till Monday.

As per an FIR registered at the Sutrapada police station, Barad and three gaurds of Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) seized a consignment of liquor from a car driver and sold off most of the bottles to a local bootlegger while allowing the car driver to go.
