Hours before he was anointed as ND prime ministerial candidate,Chief Minister Narendra Modi went about his day as usual. Though he did not come to his office,Swarnim Sankul-I at Sardar Patel Secretariat,he operated from his official residence in Gandhinagar.

“He spent first half of the day in the office at his residence. He met officials and discussed about many files. He also cleared files that required urgent attention,’’ said a source in the CMO,adding. “He left for Delhi in a charter flight in the afternoon,” the source added. Sources in the CMO maintained that though Modi closely followed all the details of the day through various sources,he held meetings with bureaucrats and went through files that required his attention.

On Friday,Modi was scheduled to release Shri M’s autobiography Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master – A Yogi’s Autobiography at the Ahmedabad Management Association. The event, however, was cancelled at the last minute. Shri M,who also goes by the name of Sri Mumtaz Ali,is the President of the Satsang Foundation and is known to be a crusader for inter-religious harmony.

While he couldn’t attend the launch,Modi ensured that he met Shri M. He even uploaded a video of the meeting and tweeted about it. “Best wishes to Sri M on the release of his book Himalayavasi Guru na Sannidhya ma – Ek Yogi ni Atmakatha that captures his spiritual journey. Due to the Parliamentary Board meeting in Delhi,I could not attend the book release function of Sri M. Met him earlier today and conveyed best wishes,” Modi wrote on Twitter.
